Bridges are structures designed to span physical obstacles such as rivers, valleys, canyons, or roads, enabling the passage of people, vehicles, and sometimes even wildlife from one side to the other. They have played a crucial role in the development of human societies by facilitating transportation, trade, and connectivity.

Here is a list of the highest bridges in the world:


Sidu River Bridge, China

The Sidu River Bridge is a 1,222 m-long suspension bridge crossing the valley of the Sidu River near Yesanguan in Badong County of the Hubei Province of the People's Republic of China. The bridge spans just over 5,000 feet across the river valley and was so far across that the builders had to use a rocket to string the first pilot line across the gap. The hefty length is supported by two massive, H-shaped towers, one at either end of the road.


Baluarte Bridge, Mexico

Baluarte Bridge ( Spanish: Puente Baluarte ) is a cable-stayed bridge near El Palmito, Mexico. The official name is Baluarte Bicentennial Bridge. The total length of the Baluarte Bridge is 1,124 m (3,688 ft) and the longest span is 520 m (1,710 ft). The deck height of Baluarte Bridge is 1,322 ft (403 m), which is the tallest bridge in the Americas.



Baling River Bridge, China

The Baling River Bridge is a suspension bridge in Guanling County in Guizhou Province of China. The bridge spans the Baling River Valley and opened to public traffic on December 23, 2009. Height of 370 m (1,210 ft), and The bridge has a total length of 2,237 m (7,339 ft).







Beipanjiang River Bridge, China

The Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge or Beipanjiang River 2003 Bridge is a 366-metre-high suspension bridge on the Guanxing Highway near Xingbei Town, Zhenfeng County, Guizhou Province, China. The Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge has a length of 1,273 ft (388 m) and a longest span of 1,273 ft (388 m). The height from the bridge to the river is 1,594 ft (486 m). The bridge deck width is 36 ft (11 m).


Aizhai Bridge, China

The Aizhai Bridge is a suspension bridge on the G65 Baotou–Maoming Expressway near Jishou, Hunan, China. The bridge was built as part of an expressway from southwest China's Chongqing Municipality to Changsha. The bridge is famous for the spectacular view it offers those crossing it. Height of 350 m (1,150 ft).



Liuguanghe Bridge, China

Liuguanghe Bridge is a 305-metre-high beam bridge at Liu Guangzhen, Guizhou, China. It held the record for world's highest bridge between 2001 and 2003, surpassing the 72-year-old, 291-metre-high Royal Gorge Bridge, until the opening of the 366 m Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge.




Zhijinghe River Bridge, China

Zhijing River Bridge was the highest arch bridge in the world upon its completion in 2009. The 294 meters high bridge in the Three Gorges region of China carries the G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway across the valley of the Zhijing River, a northern tributary of the Qing River.






Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado, United States

The Royal Gorge Bridge is a tourist attraction near Cañon City, Colorado within Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, a 360-acre amusement park located along the edge of the Royal Gorge around both ends of the bridge. The bridge is 1,260 feet (384 m) long.
